In maintaining the DNA of the ocean and sea inspired timepieces, Spinnaker launched the Fleuss dip watch in honour of Henry Fleuss, the inventor of the very first breathing apparatus for sailors. Due to Mr. Fleuss’s ingenuity, diving professionals have been in a position to learn more about the deep seas like never before.
With this inspection, we chose the two-tone blue dial Fleuss into the crazy and photographed it through a hike. We’ll be reviewing another steel version afterwards and will connect to it under with cleaner photographs. For the time being, please enjoy the character shots!

Two thing which stand out after you lay eyes on the Fleuss would be the bezel and dial. If you’re a fan of this Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, then you’re going to be attracted to the piece. The outer perimeter of this watch is lined with a smooth dome-like bezel with lumed markers inlaid in the acrylic stuff. Moving inward into the dial, there is a contrast of texture contrary to the sleekness of the bezel.

The brushed rose gold tone hands add even more texture and also provide for a pleasing macro shot, even in subdued lighting with a cell phone camera!

The 43mm diameter case is constructed out of 316L stainless steel. The”316L” designation is also occasionally referred to as marine grade steel. This is the ideal choice for a dive watch due to its high resistance to corrosion.

Spinnaker conveys the theme of”feel” into the case design with a satin finish meeting a polished chamfered edge. The height steps in at 12mm thick with a 51mm lug-to-lug.

The Fleuss model SP-5505-04 being reviewed in this post includes a rose gold tone crown. The other models have a crown to match the steel case. They are all screw-down crowns and help give the watch its 150 meters / 500 feet depth rating.

Spinnaker watch fit the Fleuss onto a matching blue strap, but being a dip watch makes it versatile and capable of carrying a variety of straps while still looking good. The tang buckle is brushed stainless steel with an Spinnaker emblem and also a springbar holding it in place.

The cover of the strap includes a suede-like texture to it with minimal off-white stitching. The bottom has smooth black leather, with the short side being signed Spinnaker and the long side is tagged as being water resistant leather.

Even though the strap is considered to be water resistant, should you anticipate taking the Fleuss from the water we advocate placing it for a nato fashion strap. If that is your desire, then you’ll want to look for something which fits a 22mm Zoom width.

The Fleuss is powered by a Spinnaker branded Seiko Instruments (SII) grade NH35A. It is a 3 hand automatic workhorse movement with a date. This caliber is found in several affordable microbrands. You can learn about it here.

If you are looking to buy the SP-5055-04 from Spinnaker’s site, remember that their images show blues of this version to be leaning on the darker side. This isn’t at all incorrect, however what they don’t show is the way the blues shift based on the light atmosphere. The pics in this review were taken in natural light, in a mountainous region, just prior to sunset.
Here is the only model with an increased gold tone bezel. Spinnaker released 6 colorways if this combo does not float your boat.
